Chinary Ung writes about his 15-minute trio for instrumentalists who sing: "I meant to compose this kind of musical response in the mid 80s when I was asked to write a piece for the Philadelphia Orchestra, entitled Inner-Voices. As it turned out, I now had my second chance to pay my deepest tribute to both the innocent victims and their living relatives/friends, during and after the Khmer holocaust, who are now referred to as 'in memoriam'."
