Description
Alan Shulman's Rendezvous was written for Benny Goodman and premiered over NBC radio August 19, 1946 with Goodman and Shulman's Stuyvesant String Quartet. Alan added an optional bass part for a performance by the NBC Symphony with Alfred Gallodoro later that year. Originally titled Rendezvous With Benny, Alan changed the title to Rendezvous for Clarinet & Strings for Artie Shaw's 1949 recording with the New Music Quartet. The version for clarinet and piano was published in 1948.
