Description
Ravel's synthesizing genius produced a uniquely personal style that extended the pianistic tradition of Franz Liszt but remained quintessentially French. Pavane for a Dead Princess, written in 1899 was the first of Ravel's works to achieve real popularity. The accompaniment resembles the sound of a lute. This beloved orchestral piece was expertly transcribed for two pianos, four hands by Mario Castlenuovo-Tedesco.
