Description
MARCIA ANTIQUA, that is "Ancient March," is a composition written in steady four beats, with the percussion playing simple march patterns. All the melodic lines are written in the Dorian mode (D minor) and except for the modern snare drum, the percussion evokes the character of the Middle Ages (tom-tom, tambourine, and field drum). The flute part may be played by one player or as many as the director has at their disposal. The percussion requires four players. The work as a whole is meant to encourage other disciplines in a school's departments to collaborate and participate, be it dancers, the art department designing costumes, or the English department using it to discuss medieval poetry. The original work has been re-engraved with a full score and separate parts for all instruments. 1.0.0.0: 0.0.0.0: Perc(4): Str
