Io ti lascio, o cara, addio, K. Anh. 245 / K. 621a was composed in 1791 and is generally regarded as one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's (1756-1791) final vocal works, though questions of authorship and completeness have surrounded the piece because it survives in fragmentary form and was catalogued in the Anhang (appendix) of the Köchel catalogue. The work, with a title translates roughly as "I leave you, my beloved, farewell," reflects the operatic sensitivity characteristic of Mozart's late style, with its atmosphere of tenderness and parting carrying poignant associations given the composer's final year of life. The piece is significant as part of the body of fragmentary late Mozart works that illuminate his final creative period alongside Die Zauberflöte and the Requiem.
