Description
PSALM 150 (PSAUME 150) is a setting in D for chorus and orchestra by French composer César Franck (1822-1890) of the Biblical text. Psalm 150, the final psalm in the Book of Psalms, features a call to praise God in music, and it has served as inspiration for numerous other composers. Written in 1883, it is among Franck's later works, with the actual publication taking place after his death, and it was commissioned by the Institut national des jeunes aveugles, an institution for young blind people, in celebration of the installation of their new organ, an instrument that features prominently in the work.
