Originally a fiddle tune, this rendition is set in a cajun groove, and uses a number of compositional techniques to explore and develop the tune in many unexpected ways. I was able to play this with Robert Sheldon at Arkansas Wind Symphony in 2019, correct me if I'm wrong for anyone that was there, we took the beginning and end faster than written. To the point where this recording is painfully slow.

The trumpets played the dynamics at the beginning wrong. As per usual, in our band at least. The trombones play the melody once in a blue moon and the trumpets never remember that they aren't the center of the show at this time and play forte instead of piano.
