All of the percussionists in our band always fight over who gets to play the train whistle

Played this years ago in middle school and hearing this again brings back so many memories of me starting out as a hornist and really enjoying this piece as I was learning how to properly play my instrument. I'm currently a sophomore in college pursuing a degree in music performance. I never lost my love for playing music and pieces like this helped build the musician I am today.

I'm a flautist yet I find the lower voices' parts in the Believe section so satisfying. I love how they harmonize with each other

I'm a bass clarinet player and this piece is so fun for the bass clarinet because we have some melody and we usually don't and we can play fast

I gotta play this and I'm bass clarinet, in the beginning for us, when we first ever played it, I was the only one who knew how to do it 😂

Doing this for my freshman year (this year) Christmas concert, and my band director giving me first part is a lot to carry since I have the bass clarinet part at measure 29-41 and then the trumpet solo right after it is a lot to carry 😅

Ya boy has got the snare drum, on most occasions we will play this song at roughly 0.75x but a little faster, then we'll play the full speed and it sounds amazing

I was in percussion and I switched through so many different parts on this. We played it my 8th grade year during band and I miss it so much 🥺🥺🥺.

I remember being a trombone sitting next to a tuba, and being mesmerized by how when the jazz part came on how it just flowed. The trombone part is snazzy as well to play but the tuba part looked really snazzy to play

I played this song at my winter concert and it was so good that we also played it 2 more times for the preschoolers at our school even though my school is 6-8th grade

I'm a clarinet player I'm in sixth grade and when it was the winter concert when we played our songs I sat with a friend of mine and when it was time for the eighth grade students to play and the last well you guess it was POLAR EXPRESS! And when the train whistle blew I yelled out ALL ABOARD! And still I'm laughing about it too 😅😆

As the only trumpet player in my band this was a lot of weight to carry for most of the melodies. God I love this piece

As a trombonist, this song has more than an average amount of important trombone parts and makes me happy.

In my opinion the tuba solo for Hot Chocolate hits different I was our tuba who played it and I loved it

Recently got the trumpet solo for this piece!

I played this for my orchestra's winter concert (shocker, I know) as a 2nd trumpet. Honestly one of my favorite pieces to play, although Hot Chocolate was always a bit tricky lol

@CoolTrooper YouTube

I'm playing this on tuba and the part is so fun I'm literally a train

C
@cousinparty7266 YouTube

I really like this piece because, unlike other pieces, everyone has a little bit of melody. The tubas, baritones, bari saxes, bass clarinets, and bassoons don't just sit still playing long notes.

@blobcookie YouTube

WAIT I'M PLAYING THIS IN BAND BUT WE HAVE NO FLUTES AND THERE'S ONLY A TROMBONE AND A TENOR SAX TO PLAY THE LOWER PARTS Update: my band teacher got a high schooler to play the flute part

F
@funnybunny680 YouTube

My class gets to play this! So hype! 😁 Only trumpet too so I get that solo!

M
@mr.random4681 YouTube

It's a long unbroken tradition for our band to play this every year! Two seniors always get the train whistles, and are passed down in senior wills! I just wished the French horns had more melody. Also Brass > percussion > woodwind!
