Yo I played 1st Trumpet in this today and I almost overdosed on dopamine
It's basically our band's tradition to play this every year in our top band, takes a little bit for the first years of the band to learn but it's so fun and always gives me chills.
one of the most memorable snare parts I ever played. How could I forget being the Polar Express in the song Polar Express from the suite from the movie Polar Express?
Our flutes are doing incredible on this piece! It made me cry today when we were playing it. I play percussion and I'm on the hi-hat during the Polar Express part
Played this song in a concert 2 separate times and like I think the bass clarinets are underrated. UPDATE: Ended up becoming a train conductor in 2022 and knowing I played the train part for this song on bass clarinet makes it even cooler🫡
My band has played this 6 years in a row so when we got it for a concert piece everyone was complaining 😭🙏
We tried to play this in our winter concert last year and couldn't get it together in time so we're just trying it again this year, lmao. It's sounding much better the second time around, and it's soooo much fun to play. I was heartbroken when it got cut last year so I'm glad I could convince our director to give it another shot!
I remember playing this back in 9th Grade Concert Band. That was my band teacher's (an alumni from the school) first year teaching. We only had 27 musicians in 9th Grade Concert Band that year. I was one of only four trumpets. I remember playing the second trumpet part. And now I'm going to graduate school to become a music teacher.
The tubas in our band make it sound more like a train so I love this piece.
It is my tradition with my band to play this every year. As a band director, every single time I hear this piece, it almost brings tears to my eyes because of how beautiful this song was orchestrated
I played alto clarinet on this one. Props to the arranger for using the alto clarinet in such a relatively recent piece.
i remember we played this around Christmas when i was a freshman and i loved it. (even though i was last chair flute and still didn't know what i was doing after 4 years. 6th grade to 9th) this will always be my favorite.
I played this piece years ago and it's still my favorite. Really hard but so beautiful! Bassoon player✨
I played this absolute masterpiece my freshman year for the Christmas concert, and I have never felt such joy and freedom playing this piece despite being alto sax #2. It was truly a fun piece, and I hope I can play it again my senior year since we technically have to wait 4 years to replay a song. But the "Polar Express" literally gave me chills, and the ending with the triangle part gave me goosebumps
Euphonium is usually not fun and you barely get any good parts. This piece is so fun to play that I got excited every time doing the runs around the end. So sick!
My community band played this arrangement a few years ago. I'm pretty sure I played the tenor sax part then. We're playing it again this year, and I'm playing oboe part this time. I always loved this arrangement! I always get excited when we get to play it.
This song is so fun to play!! Ever since I found the soundtrack of The Polar Express (I haven't watched it btw), I fell in love with it, it just gave me lots of nostalgia, idk why, but the music is so GOOD.
AHHHH the high school at my school just played this and the seven freakin trumpets are so LOUD it sounded so amazing. I'm just waiting for my school IMPATIENTLY to put the video of the concert up. Even though the high school right now is under construction, I think we had our best concert yet. It was incredible
We're playing this winter concert! B. Bone
