Favorite memory of this song is when the two trombones played trombone so loud during Battle of the Heroes that the band director told them to pull back because he didn't want to scare the kids. He wasn't joking either.
I gate-keep Star Wars so hard I actually asked my mom (our temporary band director at the time) if me and the other tenor could be the only ones playing the Across the Stars melody because the other two who played it with us (one horn and one bass guitar) just couldn't play it correctly and she actually agreed and we absolutely slayed it
Give the percussion some love! This piece is super easy. Give us something harder. Good memories
I got to play police whistle for Augie's Great Municipal Band. The most fun I've had since mark tree.
We had a substitute when we got this music and she had the trombones and baritones raise their instruments when they'd blast in Augie's Municipal Band. But our teacher got back and said not to :(
Our band did this for spring concert and I wore a fat Vader mask and our band director directed it with a lightsaber it was awesome
actually got to play concertina during "Cantina Band" for this piece in middle school! very fun feature and an excellent memory!
That Saxophone Soli for Cantina Band is amazing. My section is playing that :D
I play horn and last year our director handed out The Star Wars® Saga, Selections from Arr. Michael Story and whenever we would practice it he would cut us off right before Across the Stars which was a big horn feature
I still remember basically getting a solo for the Emperor Arrives on my Euphonium. Since I was the only one with an instrument that went that low in my section of the band.
that moment when you play tenor sax and don't get to play in the Cantina Band :( thankfully my friend wrote out an arrangement for sax quartet so my friends and I are playing it :P
as a first clarinet playing this piece for Disney this year in May, I am always worried about my embouchure falling apart by the end of Battle of the Heroes. not to mention accidentally moving my finger the slightest bit on those triplets in Across the Stars.
I miss playing this, it was so fun! SHOUT OUT TO THE HORNS!!
