I don't comment often and no one may see this, but I want to leave a comment now. This was the final piece I ever got to play for my high school. I am absolutely honored that this was my final piece for high school. Such a beautiful song, so much intensity and delicacy wrapped up and blended into an absolutely chill-inducing piece. I could not have picked a better song for me to play my final note for my high school band days. Thank you, Robert W. Smith. Rest in peace.
My high school marching band did this show my senior year in 2001. I still get goosebumps listening to this 23 years later.
Love listening to this moments before performing this with myself having the opening trumpet solo ❤️
the trumpet solo at the end? we played that in a marching band show two seasons ago. so happy we're playing it again 😊 edit: we got a superior rating! :D
If you are 1st trumpet on this part then omg, get ready to play the most chop-busting yet extremely fun piece to do
I'm in 7th grade and I am playing the Divine Comedy with the 8th graders on baritone. After listening to this piece I am utterly destroyed inside but we are making progress somehow. The rhythms are not hard but the tempo and circular breathing makes this piece suck to play. Still, I am excited to play this and I hope I do well. Also I want to commemorate Robert W. Smith for shaping the rise in band compositions.
