When we got to the foot stomping part, this kid dropped his bassoon
Dang. Played this in seventh grade. Probably the best song I have played through all of middle school. I was a flute btw
Lol everybody in the comments is in middle school and here I am as a high school senior playing this. It's ok though cause we needed a grade 2 to play at the Midwest conference and I couldn't have asked for a better piece.
Playing timpani on this song was so awesome. One of the best parts I've had in band.
My band did this song combined with our beginning, intermediate, advanced, and percussion ensembles. I was a beginning bass clarinet and had started halfway through the year, so I'd only been playing for a quarter when we started this song. It's still my favorite piece to this day. I now play clarinet in advanced band
We just had a provincial festival in which we played this, and 2 other pieces named Bonsai Tree and Grand Gallop. This was also my music teacher's 25th provincial festival, and last. She retires this year, as does her husband. Our band received the superior award, so I thank Ms. Mann for that. Good luck for those of you also performing this piece!
As a 1st clarinetist, in grade 9, this piece was definitely a workout but was sooooo much fun to play, easily one of my top band songs! 🔥🔥
I remember when I played this in 6th grade omg I was so happy playing this song I couldn't stop smiling and when we finished, everyone was so hype about it and we were all cheering when the curtains closed (after we got off stage of course XD)
just played this in district honor band, tuba part is straight HEAT
Playing this in 8th grade band right now so much fun we are gonna play it at PMEA
I'm a flute player currently learning this song and HOLY GOD OF ALL MAJESTIC FLUTES DID I NOT THINK THIS SONG WOULD BE AS COOL AS IT IS. I'm so glad I'm able to play it and it's officially one of my favorites
Played this in 7th grade, best band director I've ever had. I play such simple stuff in high school now i really wish we played stuff like this in high school. I play the trombone, funnest song I've ever played by FAR
I played this in honor band last year and played the 'flute' solo at the beginning. We put it up an octave, I practiced for a day and then during the concert I played it how it's written. Also most memorable band piece I've played :D
First chair trombone, played in seventh grade, so fun
this song was epic as a flute. especially the stomping.
Played this in 7th and let me tell you that stomping part was our favorite
I played this two years ago (Oboe) and it's still my favorite piece I've ever played
I have the break drum part on this song and it is one of the best songs I've ever played
I love the baritone parts on this it's so fun to play.
I played this for a concert in April 2025 and I think it might be one of my favorite pieces ever
We are playing this for our spring concert and it's so fun
Hey! Seventh grade percussionist playing the snare part. I've got a tip if you are learning this song! Look it up as you already have and then turn the speed down to practice so you can feel the rhythm. Then when you are comfortable with it, turn the speed up until you get to the normal speed. This helped me with every hard song and it made things so much easier because you can go at your own speed. Hoped this helped :)
Playing this as 4th chair honors band clarinet but getting 1st chair music was the greatest experience of my life. This song was one our most liked.
This song was stuck in my head because I was a tuba player and played it in band in 8th grade and I'm now in 10th about to be 11th, I couldn't remember for the longest time, but then it just came to me. I loved my band years so much, those were the days. I wish my high school offered a band, I would definitely join it.
As a trumpet the stomping is the funnest part of playing this
This is the song that won us 2nd place for our competition in LA🙏🏼🙏🏼
Played trombone when the concert band I was in played this, had the melody a bunch
I had to play this during my first year on bass clarinet from alto sax in 8th grade but it was a lot of fun
We played this song at our winter concert, I play trombone :)
I played this recently at the ASBOF, got gold. I have a performance at the town hall soon playing this as well! I play bass guitar and have the tuba part. I'm grade five, mixed with grade 4 and 6. Only bassist in the band.
Played this in 8th grade (5 years ago) - I was the only flute who remembered how to play the recorder so I got the solo

When I played this there were so many people in the flute section (I'm a flute btw) that we had to move them around so I got to play the timpani
I'm in the Hobbs Middle School band. We are the first band in Hobbs to be able to go to an Allstate Honor Band performance. We'll be going to Albuquerque in January and perform. This is one of our songs, and it's easily my favorite. This song is such a masterpiece. And as a clarinet, I feel honored to be able to play this song.
