Description
Suite in E major, Op. 63 was composed in 1908 by Arthur Foote (1853-1937), a prominent member of the "Boston Six" and one of the first American composers trained entirely in the United States. Written during a mature phase of his career, the suite reflects Foote's continued allegiance to the German Romantic tradition - particularly the influence of Brahms - while also contributing to the growing body of American chamber and orchestral music in the early 20th century. The work was first performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra on April 16, 1909, Max Fiedler conducting. Movements: 1. Praeludium; 2. Pizzicato and Adagietto; 3. Fuge. A count of 8-8-5-5-5 string are included in the set. Reprint edition.
