Description
In 1787, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) succeeded Christoph Gluck as the chamber composer for Joseph II. One of his principal tasks was to write music for the dances and balls that took place in the Redoutensaal of the Imperial Palace in Vienna. In 1789, he composed his SIX GERMAN DANCES, K. 571, for that year's carnival. The sixth dance features cymbals and tambourine, representing the Turkish musical style which was exploited as a form of Austrian patriotism during the Austro-Turkish War. Instrumentation: 2+Picc.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Perc(2): Str (4.4.0.3.3 in set).
