Description
Dimitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) is best known for his symphonies and string quartets, but it is generally not known that he composed many film scores. His feeling for the orchestra and sense of drama made his music particularly suited to the cinema. 'Romance' is from his score to The Gadfly of 1955, a historical adventure with political overtones.
