Based on an 1861 poem by Nikolay Nekrasov, the composer of this Russian folk song, also known as "The Peddler," is unknown. Brought to America by Russian immigrants in the early 1900s, the charm of this old world melody will brighten any concert. In a bright 2/4 meter, the energy flows start to finish. Delightful! (2:00)
