Description
Written in honor of the mother of the arranger's wife and her musician children, each solo voice represents the chosen instrument of each individual. Woven together into an astonishingly moving, emotion-filled scoring, this piece uses the many colors, shadings, and dynamic levels of your orchestra very effectively. This is a work of major importance. (4:30)

I played this at my college holiday concert yesterday and I nailed that euphonium solo and tbh when I played it, it was probably the best I ever played it even though I was so shaking before I started playing

I played this about a year or two ago. I was 1st clarinet. Yay! It was nerve wracking for the concert because I was so afraid I would play a wrong note. XD

I did this song with a French horn solo for my 8th grade concert 2 years ago. It was absolutely beautiful! 🥰🥰

I play euphonium, and I'm playing this song for my concert next week. Listening to this to practice counting and, hopefully, not miss my solo entrance this time

My favorite part of this has always been when the tubular bell comes in at about 3 minutes and 6 seconds in. The version of this I did back in the early 00s featured a single tubular bell note, the only time the tubular bells were used during the entire concert. To me, the lone tubular bell was always a great symbol of how every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.

Luckily my band director is letting me and the other first clarinet share the solo - we sound so good together! 🙂

As the horn soloist, I've been listening to this way too many times cause the clarinet throws me off 😅

I'm playing this this semester! Kinda scared because it's just me playing for a while instead of having the band behind me while I solo but it's a great arrangement and is good at practicing nerves!
