Dark Adventure: 2nd Percussion

I remember playing this way back in seventh grade. I was a trumpet and played the solo. It was my very first solo ever. Brings back memories now looking back on it.

Honestly, this song has remained one of my favorites. I play flute, and being able to play most of the song and some of my favorite parts keeps it in my top 10 or so band songs. I remember this song being really hard to learn to play fast, but it was really fun to learn!

Loved playing this as a kid! Can still hear the clarinet parts I played. :)

I played this song at my band's winter concert. I'm a percussionist, and I confess that when I received the sheet music for this song, I was stunned. Although! This song has become my favorite.

I played French horn on this piece in all star band, it was honestly an honour 🙏

So, I'm in 7th grade and everyone in my class is bad so they moved me to the 8th grade class and they were playing this song. And when I started playing it, it was literally impossible to not just straight up dance. 😂

Recently played this at a competition, and will again very soon! (If you're wondering, we got 3rd place!) I play alto sax, and I'm in beginning band (cadet if you wanna get fancy). And first looking at this piece was TERRIFYING! But now it's one of my favorite pieces we've ever played!

Whoa, nostalgia! I played this a few years ago in seventh grade and it was one of my favorites to play on my trumpet, especially the solo (without realizing it was a solo so when I got my first explicitly stated solo the next year I was terrified lol), but over time I had forgotten this piece even existed! So when it randomly showed up in my recommended I was just hit with a huge wave of nostalgia.

I'm a trombone player and I recommended this song to my band teacher and when I walked in the next morning I saw that he was passing out the sheet music for dark adventure, best song that I've ever played. Same thing with G-Force Five!

My advanced band actually met Ralph Ford (the composer of the piece) last year!

Currently, I am playing this for an Honor Band concert. I play the oboe.

This is the only song I can recall by heart from middle school band. Percussionist, by the way.

I have a band concert on May 20th and we're playing this song. This is my favorite song that we have played. I wasn't able to play our Christmas concert because I was going on a trip to see my family, but I'm very excited to play this song at our Spring Concert! (I play the trombone :})

I remember playing this fall of COVID year, 8th grade for me. It was my first time as trumpet section lead and we loved it. Even though it was a reintroduction song we still played it until the end of the year from time to time. I miss band so much man 😢

I remember playing xylophone and woodblock for this part back in eighth grade, it was a struggle to nail down that woodblock part but I still love playing the xylophone part.

As a timpani player, the timpani part is amazing for a grade 1 song! I hate that most composers make timpani parts so easy in songs like grade 1 to 3 but for this, this timpani part is awesome for a grade 1, has stuff that someone who wants to continue doing timpani needs to know! Huge respect!!

I got this song in 4th grade and I wasn't able to do our concert because of COVID and now I'm in 6th grade and I finally got to play this after two years and played the solo (I'm in elementary and middle school band because I chose to be).

I played this in 5th grade in my school. They called it jazz band. It was more advanced and we played hits from the 40's through 50's. We performed in front of buildings and had concerts in front of many people. Good times tho.

Update: BYE, CAUSE WE DID HORRIBLEEE 💀💀😭, LITERALLY when it came to the flute parts since there were only very few, it was DEADASS QUIET, like y'all could barely hear them 😭, then the clarinets came in but they were all messed up 💀 so everyone else didn't know when to come in, and we got so lost, but we continued it 💀💀

Xylophone player here! It's hard this year for me because I'm the only mallet player so I have to constantly switch bells, xylophone, bells, ya get the point. But it is a really fun song to play.

I played this for honor band in 7th grade and my best friend got the solo so I kept fist bumping her because she was scared and we get in trouble with the honor band director lol.

Low brass and low reeds carried the concert (def not biased as a bass clarinet..)
