Description
Alexander Goedicke (1877–1957) composed his CONCERT ETUDE, Op. 49, in 1929 for trumpet and piano, a brilliant showpiece that quickly became one of the most frequently performed solo works in the trumpet repertoire. A professor at the Moscow Conservatory and a prominent figure in Russian musical life, Goedicke wrote the piece to highlight both lyrical expressiveness and dazzling technical virtuosity, qualities that have made it a favorite in competitions and recitals ever since. In recent years, Donald Miller has created a transcription for trumpet and string orchestra, expanding the work's sonic palette while preserving its virtuosic character and charm. Today, the Concert Etude—in both its original and transcribed forms—remains a cornerstone of the trumpet repertoire, admired for its brilliance, accessibility, and enduring appeal on the concert stage. Instrumenation: Solo Tpt in set: Str (8.8.5.5.5 in set).
