Description
Chanteys is an original work that recalls the music of the sea and its sailors. A jaunty opening sparkles with character and style before yielding to a pensive "Andante." The piece closes with a spirited juxtaposition of thematic material. Expressive, entertaining and great fun to play, Chanteys is another excellent choice for contests or spring concerts by Robert Sheldon. This piece was also selected by the Yamaha Music Media Corporation of Japan as one of the "100 Best Pieces for Band" for 2001. This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.

I love the flute part in this piece because it's fast and simple and you feel proud of yourself at the same time. Not the easiest, got it on my 3rd or so go, but amazing piece even in general.

Chanteys was a super fun song to play my freshman year of high school, I loved it. If you love this song too, listen to these and maybe suggest them to your band director: Danzon no. 2 by Arturo Marquez (find a band version, orchestra ones aren't as good), Incantation and Dance by John Barnes Chance, Arabian Dances by Brian Balmages, and Rippling Watercolors by Brian Balmages. All of these songs are really beautiful and so much fun to play, so try recommending them and definitely listen to them.

Absolutely my favorite piece that I've performed. This song is just beautiful and I'm glad I got to play it as my first concert piece. (Euph gang)
