Description
Christina Rossetti's well-known poem compares the movement of boats and ships to something even lovelier, "the clouds that sail across the sky." This sensitive setting features a warm, flowing melody over a rippling piano accompaniment. Two treble voice parts move together in gentle harmony for most of the piece, briefly splitting to introduce a legato "oo" counterline. Toward the end, the tempo eases, allowing time to appreciate nature's quiet wonders.
