The memories from playing this back in 7th grade and now as a senior and going to play this with middle schoolers. How it went all in a circle back to playing this.
I remember taking the clarinet 1 solos and always feeling I was about to have a heart attack because of how fast my heart was beating. My band played this for MICCA festival and our workshop person asked who took the solos. I raised my hand/said it was me (idk which). He told me I nailed it. 😄 Fun times.
Played this in Carnegie Hall with Mr. Sheldon watching in the audience.
Will never forget this piece or how it made me feel to play the oboe part as the only oboe in our band.
I have the solo in the clarinet section and my concert is in 2 weeks! So excited for this. This song is quite literally a work of art. Rob Sheldon is a talented composer.
My band played this for state in 7th grade. One of my favorites.
Playing this for my freshman spring concert so nervous I play flute. 😂😅
Playing this for a band competition my junior year and this reminds me of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Not gonna lie. Such a beautiful song!
We are playing this year for middle school Honors UIL and I have the 1st clarinet solo.
7th grader here and played it today :D I got 1 solo and my band director made the 1st trumpet last part a solo because the 8th graders (it is 7th and 8th grade that's playing btw) can't count (typical trumpet player yk) and the other trumpet in 8th grade got the two first solos. I was complimented by a high school band director too and I'm most likely going to high school with him directing. This piece is so fun. Played it in orchestra and got the highest rating from the judges!
I played this piece for state! I'm first clarinet and I tried out for solo and actually I'm sub-soloist (if the soloist isn't here then I play).
When I was a sophomore, our band went on tour to the Lincoln Memorial and played this out front among many songs. This one stuck out the most to me (especially because I was 1st clarinet and got that sick solo line). Using this piece, we placed incredibly highly in a huge competition. It's songs like these that can conjure back these great memories.
Next to 'Our Blue Planet', this is always one of my favorites to play.
Currently playing this as a 9th grader.
