Description
Now in ColorFlex format for groups with limited instrumentation! Among the Clouds is a musical journey into the minds of lucid dreamers as they drift off to sleep and wake up in a dream where they can fly at will. A slow, enchanting opening gives way to an energetic theme with an engaging rhythmic pulse as the dreamer takes to the skies! An intriguing work by Brian Balmages! (5:10)
About ColorFlex
Conductors no longer need to choose between function and texture! Ensembles with instrumentation challenges still have numerous options to cover all parts, yet orchestration is elevated significantly to be faithful to the composer's original intent. Musicians have more opportunities to rest, and timbre once again becomes a central element of each work. So go ahead and have the best of both worlds: flexible and colorful.Sample Audio

In 8th grade, we went to Cedar Point for a Music Festival and we performed this in front of judges.
I won Most Outstanding Solo Performer award on this song back in 2008 🥹💕 great times
I just played this song as a bell's player and the first 13 measures are still giving me nightmares of messing up the tempo. It was overall my favorite piece that we played tho!!
I played 2nd trumpet part 4 and I had a great time with this even though I was new to the trumpet
Just finished playing this song for LGPE, we got straight 1s!
I got this piece I think in December I play bari sax, and I get really excited playing the whole notes whenever it crescendos, it's a fun piece!!
I played this piece this year for UIL I used to despise it but I love it now we got all 1s and in sight reading❤️
I got to play this song during freshman year of high school as a trumpet player and it absolutely blew me away, playing it felt like I was soaring! I'm considering asking the community band I play with now if I could conduct this during one of our future concerts! Here's hoping!
As a flute player, this song is not so scary once you get the hang of it... except for those sixteenth notes at 101 and the flute fugue 😭
I was (mostly) the only F-horn, and holy smokes this went hard, all the bass were behind me, so after the F-horns and trumpets join together, the bass overpowered the band, and this was just ear candy 😎
MMMMMMM Fugue is crisp and delicious
