Description
The South African folk classic "Siyahamba" is authentically treated in this special arrangement for young band. Repeating percussion patterns using tom toms, bass drum, claves, and cowbell keep the African feel moving while syncopated block harmonies round out the accompaniment. Trumpets and flutes get to shine on the opening melody, and in typical African call and response tradition, everyone gets to join in as the arrangement progresses. Correlated to Accent on Achievement, Book 2, page 23. This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.

I played this at a school concert. Everyone hated it at first, but when it was time to move on, NOBODY wanted to.

I'm playing this for a concert. I play the percussion bells part. It's quite a great piece of music! Edit, 1/10/21: I am no longer in band, but this piece was still fun to play, and I find myself humming it from time to time!

We are playing this in 8th grade band and it is really fun. I play French horn and my part is really cool. I like the chords at measure 12 (ish).

My little sister played this at her first concert!! It was super exciting watching middle school do this because she said she was very nervous but played beautifully.

I'm a bari saxophone player and this song is fun to play with the whole band. Also, it sounds nice on bari.
