Description
From arranger Peggy Radmall: This "Adagio and Fugue" is taken from the Violin Sonata in A major, B.A14 (Op. 1, No. 1) by Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770), the manuscript of which is in the British Museum. In the realization of the bass I have adhered as closely as possible to Tartini's figurings. All the dynamics are my own suggestion; most of the bowings are also mine, but I have retained those indicated by Tartini wherever possible.
