Description
This work features all of your school district's string orchestras at once and was written to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Freeport, Illinois orchestra program. The piece combines elementary, middle school, and high school string orchestras each playing age-appropriate material, making for the perfect closer to an "All-City," multi-level concert. During the course of this energetic rondo, each group is featured on their own melody. As the piece unfolds, the melodies are creatively combined, keeping all the players "on their toes" and active at all times. Grade levels for the three groups are: Elementary - Grade 1.5; Middle school - Grade 2.5; High school - Grade 3.5. (4:45)

People literally underestimate the high school cello part. It's almost as hard as the violin.

Our orchestra played this song. 650+ people playing it at once, each divided into the Very Advanced, Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner. It was amazing really... Just... Amazing.

Every year the 5th, 6th, middle, and high school orchestras play this song together as the last song of the year and it's always amazing. I never get sick of it.

I would honestly have to say, this is the piece that hooked me. I played it way back in 7th grade. This was the first piece that I truly fell in love with and was sad to see it go. I hold Richard Meyer as one of, if not the best composer of our time. I blame this piece for making me adore music.

Our orchestra teacher made all of her middle school and high school students play this and it was amazing but the lights powered out so we had to play in the dark, some parents had to go up and flash the music so we could play 😭

My orchestra played this song in middle school, with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade groups and I was in 6th grade and to this day I still don't know how the 8th grade violins were able to play this part. This is one of the most nostalgic pieces to me and felt so incredible to play.

My high school plays this at Graduation and at the last concert of the year. The alumni (for the last concert) come back and play the HS part. Concert (freshman) plays elementary, Symphony (everyone else) plays MS and Chamber (the best people in the school) play HS at graduation (except the Seniors, of course).

Performed this in a 640-person orchestra celebrating my high school's 15th anniversary. We had to play strings from 7th to 9th grade as part of the curriculum. We had 9th and 10th grades play the high school parts, 8th and 11th grades play the middle school parts, and finally 7th graders plus some teachers and alumni playing the elementary school parts. Can still remember my position number in the orchestra that day: E-110 (we had A to N zones).

I'm middle school 2nd violin. I actually really like this song! We are playing it for orchestra soon and hopefully it goes well. A pain to learn though 😢

I kinda sucked at playing this lol, was still fun at concert.

My band director arranged this for band and orchestra and it made me want to die. I play clarinet and it just felt like playing the violin melodies on an instrument they weren't meant to be played on. My fingers died.

Playing the middle school cello part of this is amazing ^^. The only part I "dislike" is 142-145. Don't like shifting 😔
