Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht is a popular choral composer, conductor, and clinician, especially known for her work with choral movement. An annual recipient of the ASCAP Special Music Award since 1987, Sally has over 600 popular choral publications plus 75 larger songbooks and musicals in print. She has conducted honor choir events across the country, including festivals at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. For over three decades, she was the Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications for two major educational music publishers, most recently for Alfred Music. She has taught in the music departments at Oakland University (MI), Jersey City State College (NJ), and Meredith College (NC).

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Sally received a B.A. Degree from Rollins College (FL) in 1976 with a double major in Music and Theater. From there, she moved to the University of Miami, where she received both an M.A. in Drama (1977) and an M.M. in Accompanying (1979). 

Sally and her husband, composer/arranger Jay Althouse, currently enjoy living in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Sally has served as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and is a proud recipient of their “Pillar of Leadership” award. In 2021, she was thrilled to receive the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College (where she is a member of the Board of Trustees).Â
