Rob Colley
Rob started playing piano and composing music at a young age. He first studied Mathematics at King’s College Cambridge before changing to music and opting for a career in that field. He subsequently studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music and the Vienna Musikhochschule, where he won many prizes and scholarships for piano performance.
He has had a long and varied career as a concert pianist, music producer, teacher, and composer, working in a wide range of styles and environments. His own musical style embraces influences from many types of music and reflects his diverse experience as a musician and educator.
From 1999 to 2018, Rob was Head of Keyboard and Composition at Rugby School. Since his semi-retirement from there, he has continued his composing and performing activities.
He particularly enjoys writing for the piano. His piece Hoe-Down is on the current Trinity College London Grade 8 piano syllabus, and a book of 10 pieces for the ATCL diploma is due to be published shortly.Â
In 2023, the Royal Academy of Music awarded him the ARAM for life-time achievement in music.
