Michele Weir
Arranger, educator, singer/pianist Michele Weir is a faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles and a former member of the Grammy-nominated vocal group, Phil Mattson and the PM Singers. Michele’s arrangements have been performed by groups including New York Voices, Manhattan Transfer, The Swingle Singers, and many others. She served as Vocal Producer for the Manhattan Transfer’s 2009 CD release, Chick Corea Songbook, and her educational books and arrangements are available internationally. Michele is the author of the first iOS app for scat singers, ScatAbility, and her latest venture (2020) is her online music school: MusicHabit.Â
Michele is a well-respected teacher and clinician with workshops in 22 countries around the globe. Past presentations include multiple appearances at the World Choral Symposium, IAJE Conference, and the ACDA National Conference, as well as being keynote speaker for the first ever International Jazz Voice Conference in Helsinki.
Other credits include touring as pianist/background vocalist with singer Bobby Vinton, composing songs for the Shari Lewis TV show, and music supervision for the foreign language versions of the Dreamworks film, Prince of Egypt. Michele's CD release with guitarist, Bruce Forman is titled, The Sound of Music.
