Krystal Williams
Krystal Williams is an adjunct professor in the Music Education Department, a former Music Intern Supervisor, and an Adjunct lecturer for Music Education classes for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is currently the Band Director at Suitland High School's Creative, Visual, and Performing Arts Program for Prince George's County Public Schools. Before her current position, she served as the Band Director at Western High School for 8 years and 15 years with Baltimore City Schools. Mrs. Williams attended Morgan State University as a Music Major from 1999-2005, & as a Graduate Assistant from 2006 to 2009. She holds a B.A. in Music and an M.A. in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame, Maryland.
She has held the office of the Large Ensemble Chair for MMEA Maryland, former Music Technology Chair for MMEA, the Professional Development Chair for The Association of Black Women Band Directors, a member of the Women Band Directors International Association, and a member of the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women.
She is working on clinics around sustaining music educators through practical 21st-century methods reflective of a post-pandemic world. Her career focus is in Arts Education Advocacy and Teacher Development for visual and performing arts programs in rural and urban public school districts. Mrs. Williams's passion is rooted in past experiences from childhood to educating underserved populations. It is through this work that she seeks to make the arts truly reflective of D.E.I.A. in action, not just in words.
