Douglas Mason
A former Gloucester Cathedral chorister, Douglas Mason, read music at Durham University and now teaches at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, England, in the composition and academic music departments.Â
Following his first published composition in 1998, music by Douglas has been performed both around the UK and abroad and has also been broadcast live on the radio. In 2016, he was the joint winner of the Three Choirs Festival Composition Competition, and in the same year, his carol Videntes Stellam was featured in the BBC1 series Christmas City. His Fanfare for organ was recorded in 2019 for the Fugue State Films DVD documentary series The English Organ and subsequently also included on the 2020 album The English Organ, Volume Six. Music by Douglas has been included in ABRSM repertoire lists for both Cello Grade 7 and Oboe Grade 5, and has also been performed at the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music and the New Music Manchester festival.Â
