This lighthearted, carefree work is easy to remember upon hearing. It has a snappy rhythm that makes you want to dance to its lively tune.
Minstrels were musicians who traveled throughout the countryside providing entertainment to any and all. Their repertoire included songs, dances, jokes, and storytelling. One could find them all over Europe and America from the Middle Ages up until the 20th century. As traveling musicians, they relied on "catch" tunes that could easily be learned and communicated to their audiences. They were in the business of uplifting people's spirits through fun and laughter.
