The musical form or format that we refer to as the march is thought by many to be the major reason why bands came into existence. The early years of the Twentieth Century proved to be the glory days for march composition. A leading march writer, Henry Fillmore also wrote under several pseudonyms, one being Harold Bennett. From the Bennett Band Book comes his best-known march, Military Escort. Larry Clark gives it new life, adjusting for ease of performance as well as performance practice.
