WILL YOU REMEMBER? (SWEETHEART) is a song by Sigmund Romberg (1887-1951) from the musical MAYTIME. Set to a libretto by Rida Johnson Young, it successfully ran on Broadway from 1917 to 1918, establishing Romberg as one of the foremost composers of operetta. The saga tells of two lovers, kept apart by class differences, whose descendants are eventually brought together in marriage. Ottilie and Richard, in the poignant duet, promise to love each other from life's blossoming May to its dreary December, even though their paths may separate for good.
