Description
One of Count Basie's finest! Rich DeRosa keeps this one swinging all the way and included two optional tag endings to keep the Basie style intact. Solos are written out for piano, tenor sax, trumpet and trombone. Lead trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff with an A on the optional tag ending. It builds and builds! will never forget when me and my good friend Yoni soaked up some good attention at a jazz comp with our jazz band when we got to be 'those 2 jazz bassoons from that one school' when we each did a solo on this song

Interesting score. We played this at about this tempo in my high school jazz band back in the 70s. I don't remember either the guitar or piano parts being so written out (basically, they were just chord symbols with quarter-note slashes). Good performance, thanks for posting.

The one thing I hated about this arrangement is just how long you have to rest as a Bari sax player, but it's such a good arrangement. I need to get around to writing out a Bari part for the soli (just for fun, it's been about two years since I performed this)

our jazz band is speeding it up hella compared to the OG recording, we love taking things up tempo for some reason
