Description

Leroy Anderson's (1908-1975) Jazz Pizzicato, written in 1938, was the first of his works to be performed by the Boston Pops after he came to the attention of the pops orchestra's director, Arthur Fiedler. It was an immediate hit, and Fiedler encouraged him to write more original compositions for the orchestra, starting a succession of works that have since become well known. Instrumentation: String orchestra (8-8-5-5-5 in set). Versions for full orchestra, string orchestra, and band are available.
