the 15 dislikes are the first violinists who wanted to go higher (please don't shoot me i'm one of the first violinists playing this in orchestra)
As a violinist with 8 years of formal training, I can say this piece is still a joy to play!
One of my favorite songs to play on violin when I played as a kid. Sounded epic when I played it with the rest of the orchestra.
Me and my viola friends all said that we are literally a metronome for this piece and I completely agree with them
I love this song so much! Was going to play it in 6th grade but didn't because of COVID :( Just finished my 8th grade concert a few hours ago though and it was amazing!
A piece where 1st violins are bursting out squeaky high notes, viola, cello, and bass also get the main tune, and 2nd violin aren't invisible, AND made by Doug Spata? Incredible…
I played this for adjudication in 7th grade and got told we were one of the greatest 7th grade classes ^v^ also enjoyed the viola part
i played this in orchestra and i was SHOCKED that violas had the melody in the beginning
As a violist I found every melody I got super fun, I mean I literally learned the violin and cello melodies by ear
I played this last year when I was in 8th grade on March 2025 concert. This song gave me goosebumps and I could not forget this song. This is the orchestra piece of 2025 for me. This is the best song. We also played Hopak as well that time. Right now we are playing Christmas music and we just finished playing Rondeau for our winter concert and we have another one coming on November 19th, 2025. Christmas Canon, International Jingle Bells, Polar Vortex, Jesus Man of Desire, and Linus and Lucy.
the last chunk of this was an audition piece for chamber orchestra at my school and for a very brief moment, that was the only thing the cellists played in chamber
I played this when I was 10 as part of a summer program, and looking back makes me realize how much I've grown as a violinist since then (i played violin 2). Looking at it now it's like the type of piece I could easily sight-read, but at the time it was incredibly difficult lol
i'm in 6th grade and i'm a violinist. I play violin 2 for this and it's so fun but we don't get as many breaks as the violin 1 people. I love how at the end I can hear myself playing the melody and every other instrument playing different stuff and then unite at the end. ITS SOO GOOD. I love being one of the 3 people who decide to play violin 2 for this lol
Doing this song with my school for concert on bass
