Students will enjoy the re-creation of a camel caravan moving slowly across the desert in this solo. Written in 4/4 meter and in the key of A minor, chromatic passing tones in the melody give it a modal sound. In A-B-A form, the A section features a right-hand melody accompanied by a rhythmic ostinato in the left hand. In the B section, the melody can be found in the left hand, accompanied by harmonic intervals in the right. The wide use of the keyboard makes this an excellent study in ledger lines in both clefs.
