Description
Max Bruch (1838-1920) composed his VIOLIN CONCERTO No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26 in 1866, premiering on April 24, 1866, by Otto von Königslow on violin, with Max Bruch conducting. Following, the violin virtuoso Joseph Joachim advised Bruch in heavy revisions, with this final version premiering in Bremen on January 5, 1868, with Joachim playing the solo, Karl Martin Reinthaler conducting. This concerto, with its soaring melodies and lush orchestral writing, is probably Bruch's best-known work, and it remains a staple of the violin repertoire. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 4.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): Solo Violin.
