Description
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) composed the Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61, in 1806. The premiere by violinist Franz Clement on December 23rd, 1806, at the Theater an der Wien was poorly received, and the work remained obscure until 12-year-old violinist Joseph Joachim revived the work in 1844, long after Beethoven's death, at a performance by the London Philharmonic Society under Felix Mendelssohn. It is now one of the major contributions to the violin repertoire and is regularly performed today. The solo violin parts has been edited and provided with the cadenza by Carl Flesch. Instrumentation: 1.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): Solo Violin.
