Things to consider
Start beginner students with Charting the Course Book 1 in their instrument key (grades 2-2.5), then progress through subsequent books as they advance. If you're building a full jazz program, pair method books with ensemble charts at matching grade levels to reinforce concepts in real repertoire. For combo work, the 32 small group arrangements let you run simultaneous ensembles or break your big band into sections for focused rehearsal.
