Todd Stalter

Todd Stalter served as the Director of Bands at Eureka High School in Eureka, IL, for 34 years. Under his direction, the EHS band program enjoyed a statewide reputation of musical excellence: the Marching Band was a 16-time Class 1A Champion of the Illinois State Marching Band Championships, the Concert Band consistently earned Superior ratings at Illinois High School Association contests, and the Pep Band was selected to perform at several IHSA State Boys and Girls Basketball and Volleyball State Tournament Finals. His ensembles performed in Chicago’s Orchestra Hall and at Walt Disney World, and were music festival champions of the Cotton and Liberty Bowls. He is a member of the Illinois State Marching Band Championships Hall of Fame.

As a conductor, Todd has led All-State Bands in Georgia and Delaware, and numerous local and regional Honor and ILMEA District Bands. He has appeared with the Rockford Wind Ensemble, the Prairie Winds, and the Bloomington Community Band. As an adjudicator and clinician, he maintains an active schedule for both Solo & Ensemble and Large Group evaluation, and has presented seminars on Music Education, Adjudication, and Composition at the Illinois Music Educators Conference, the Delaware Music Educators Association, and the Illinois State University Band Director Workshop.

Todd’s music for Band and String Orchestra reaches audiences worldwide. Many of his Band works appear on state contest and festival lists in the United States, and are included in the renowned educational resource “Teaching Music Through Performance in Band” series published by GIA.

Todd Stalter received his Bachelor of Music Education (cum laude) and Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Illinois State University, where he studied Trumpet with Richard Lehman (Solo Cornet of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band) and Dr. James Buckner, and Conducting with Dr. Stephen K. Steele. He served as a conducting assistant for such luminaries as Robert W. Smith, Gary Green, Larry Gookin, Marguerite Wilder, Randy Vaughan, Cody Birdwell, and Richard Floyd at the Music for All Summer Symposium. Residing in Eureka, IL, his family includes his wife Angie, son Evan, and Jet, the family Blue Merle Golden-Doodle.
