Kurt Erickson
Kurt Erickson is a critically acclaimed composer currently serving as composer-in-residence with San Francisco’s LIEDER ALIVE! His works have been commissioned and performed by leading artists, including the late countertenor Brian Asawa, the Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Girls Chorus, Festival Opera, and San Francisco Ballet Master Lawrence Pech. While in his twenties, he served multi-year composer residencies at the Grace Cathedral and The National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi. A new music advocate, he directed the Composers Workshop at the Napa Music Festival, and is a frequent guest artist at universities and music conservatories. During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, his soprano and orchestra song set A Red Cherry on a White Tiled Floor will be performed domestically and internationally by a consortium of orchestras. His recent commissioned work I Think I Shall Praise It celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Berkeley Community Chorus and Orchestra. He directs the Piano Program at Cosumnes River College, and is a frequent performer with his wife, acclaimed soprano Heidi Moss Erickson.
