Description
Ah, Holy Jesus is a dramatic new musical setting of a beloved eleventh century hymn text attributed to Jean de Fecamp, paraphrased by Johann Heermann in 1630 and traslated into English in 1899 by Robert Bridges. Appropriate for Lent of Holy Week, suggested corresponding lectionary readings include Psalm 131, Isaiah 53: 1-12, John 18: 1-40 & 19:1-42, and Hebrews 4:14-16 & 5: 7-9. One basic homiletical theme is the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice is for the salvation of humankind.
