When arranged in systematic and progressive order, our rich heritage of folk music offers a welcome addition to the literature for elementary string instrument instruction. Although this edition is not the first to present such material in practical form, it is unique in that it is organized in such a way that it may be used to supplement any string method in which finger patterns are introduced as special units of study. The purpose of this edition is two-fold: first, to provide tuneful and interesting material for the beginning and intermediate string class at the elementary school level and, second, to provide easy solo literature for the violin, viola, cello or double bass student in a school or private studio situation. This version of 48 Folk Songs has been edited by Lynne Latham for today’s string practices. Piano Accompaniment is available separately.
