Description
English composer George Butterworth (1885-1916) was a promising young composer and folk song collector of the early 20th century, whose life and career were cut short when killed by a sniper during the Battle of the Somme in the trenches near Pozières during World War I. This collection of eleven folk songs were published in 1912.
