Description
On November 12, 1824, fifteen-year-old Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) completed the CONCERTO FOR TWO PIANOS AND ORCHESTRA IN A-FLAT MAJOR (NO. 2), MWV O 6. It may have been the second work he composed for full orchestra, the first being his CONCERTO FOR TWO PIANOS IN E MAJOR, written the previous year. In 1825, the composer gave the first performance in Berlin alongside his teacher Ignaz Moscheles. The work fell into obscurity for many years until the manuscript was rediscovered in the Berlin State Library archive in 1950. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.3.3: Timp: Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set): Solo pianos (2 - available separately).
