Description
Credo In E Minor, RV 591 was composed in the 1710s (c. 1715-1717) by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) during his tenure as maestro di violino at the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, the renowned charitable institution for girls whose ensemble inspired many of his sacred works. Although no specific premiere is documented, the work was almost certainly first performed by the Pietà's resident musicians within the institution's liturgical services. Today Credo In E Minor is one of Vivaldi's most frequently performed choral works, firmly established in the Baroque sacred repertoire. This edition by Clayton Westermann includes both the original Latin text and a translation to English. Instrumentation: 0.0.0.1(opt): 0.0.0.0: Hpchd: Str (2-2-2-1-1 in set): Mix Chorus. Movements: 1. Credo; 2. Et incarnatus est; 3. Crucifixus; 4. Et Resurrexit. The vocal score is available separately from the publisher.
