Description
In 1775, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) wrote his five violin concertos for Gaetano Brunetti, a violinist in the Salzburg court where he served as Konzertmeister. In a letter to his father, he referred to his VIOLIN CONCERTO No. 3 in G major, K. 216, as the "Straßburg-Concert", and cheerfully described performing it at the Heiligkreuz Monastery, receiving praise from those who attended the informal concert. In the first movement, he borrows a tune from his newest opera IL RE PASTORE. Following a gentle, poised slow movement, the finale captures the stamina of a gypsy peasant dance. Instrumentation: Solo Vn: 2.2.0.0: 2.0.0.0: Str (4.4.3.3.3.in set).
