The Pleiades: String Orchestra, Conductor Score & Parts

The Pleiades are the seven daughters of the titans Atlas and Pleione in Greek mythology. They are turned into doves escaping to the sky, whirling and swirling to form the part of the constellation Taurus. This story inspired the 7/8 time signature and consistent rhythmic patterns that dominate this piece. The gentle swirling continues as the cellos take over the melody. The notes are not particularly difficult, but the rhythms may need some attention in rehearsal.
